Jordan Rudess on the Harpejji
Here is something completely Analog for once. Jordan Rudess demonstrating the great new instrument the Harpejji by Marcodi. www.marcodi.com
iPad Steve Jobs presents Apple's new tablet
Apple's CEO Steve Jobs gives a live demonstration of the iPad. I want to try one out so bad. The one thing that annoys me is that apple doesn't have SD card slots. They charge you a fortune just to get extra memory that with an SD card or SD mini could be bought for a few dollars.
Beat Blocks
Beat Blocks is a tangible interface for a rhythm sequencer. The user is able to create and manipulate a 4-track drum loop by physically re-arranging wooden blocks within a 4x4 grid.

Dan from Schaack Audio just sent us this cool video of a single audiocube controlling the slicex in FL Studio. Dan is building a new version of MIDIBridge using Raw Material's JUCE framework. Sound Design with AudioCubes
A demo by http://alloyelectric.com/
(Chris Warren, UCSD)
Chris is controlling a soft synth developed especially for AudioCubes by Percussa, to be released in the next months.
No setup or configuration necessary to make the cubes talk to the software, since the software was designed specifically for the cubes.
No drivers necessary, and runs on Mac OSX 10.4 or Windows XP SP2 and later.

straker on monome and audiocubes
A pot-pourri of performance technologies. The sample manipulation is courtesy of the shard plugin, which is being controlled by the monome and the audiocubes using the straker sequencing framework, which itself is built on top of the shado rendering library for the monome.
TENORI-ON Review
We had the Tenori-On for a few short days here at Sonic Labs, check out what we made of this new instrument

Axis 64 Midi Controller
Designer Peter Davies threw out preconceptions of what a music keyboard should be and designed a layout based on the Harmonic Table. According to C-Thru Musiic, the arrangement of notes helps you understand note relationships and create as you never have before.
Monome 40h Usb Midi Device
The light and button systems interface to the computer independently: the light feedback does not necessarily follow the button input. this means that a button press doesn't always toggle its corresponding light, which would be completely limiting. by splitting the systems, the computer can display different information on the grid of lights continually while collecting button presses.
the interaction between the buttons, lights, and computer software is all configurable by the user. of course we provide several preset configurations which feature our favorite uses. we've designed an easy to use routing system, so that programming skills are by no means required to integrate the box with a preexisting computer software setup. for those interested in making more complicated control applications we provide direct software access to button and light activity.

tvshack.net has malware do not go there it is horrible.
So the other day I wanted to checkout some TV shows on www.tvshack.net and Chrome picked up that the site had malware on it. I clicked through (big mistake) because I had been on this site thousands of times before. Do not make the same mistake that I did.
It installs a virus under the ruse of an antivirus program called "Antivirus Live." Basically it totally screws your ability to do anything including running exe files. When you try to do anything it says that the file is corrupt. This is not true. This malicious virus highjacks your computer then makes you pay to fix it. Talk about annoying the worst part about this is I can picture some less than computer literate people falling for it. I would imagine these jerks have made a fortune off people that don't have the ability to do a format re-install of there OS.
I tried to remove it manually. So I restarted my computer in safe mode. Sweet I can now get around my computer because the virus does not load in safe mode. It was added to my startup programs. Long story short I found the virus and removed it but it messed up my internet connection. I didn't want to spend all day trying to fix it so I just did a format re-install.
This wasted at least 1.5 hours of my workday and I was pissed. That is the reason I am writing this blog to warn others about this issue.
Do not under any circumstances trust these slimy bastards at "www.tvshack.net"

Doppleganger Optical Theremin
This is an optical theremin with a secondary modulating oscillator. You can get all kinds of crazy sounds out of it. Some of the sounds remind me of old video game systems. It also will step up and down notes simmilar to an "Atari Punk Console."
The top left knob controls the pitch. Te second from the left controls the pitch range. The third knob changes the speed that the modulating oscillator goes. Finally the knob on the far right is a volume knob. The far left switch will turn on the modulation oscillator. The one next to that switches between the photo-cell and potentiometer for volume control. The far right switch is the main power switch. There is a 1/4 inch output that can run into a guitar amp, mixer or anything that accepts a 1/4" Jack. It is powered by a 9V adapter that is not included. You MUST use a negative tipped adapter to power this. If by chance you only have a positive tipped adapter I can reverse the wiring just message me in advance of payment. I recommend any adapter that would be used for audio products like distortion pedals etc.
Below is a video please take a look you will get a very accurate idea of how this works and sounds. The video does not have any effects on the unit it is just running clean through a guitar amp.

How to replace a 72 pin connector for the NES Nintendo System
A Step By Step Video on how to replace the 72 pin connector. It is really easy all that you need is a screwdriver. This will in most cases fix the blue or blinking screen issue that old NES systems tend to have. It's important to clean your cartridges before using them with the new connector. Otherwise you may end up having the same issue sooner than you would expect.

You have to check this out! Kutiman re-mixes youtube
I was floored when I saw this. Kutiman re-mixes unsuspecting peoples youtube videos to create some great music. This is one of those great concepts that usually would fall short in some regard. Every aspect of this is amazing including the music. The project is called ThruYOU, Here is the link...
